Recall the last time I involve in community project was last month while i was doing assignment project which my uni-mates chose to help NASAM (read my previous post about here, NASAM). Though it's not 100% voluntary work for me to do, but i get to look at the world from a different perpective and learn to appreciate life more.

Thanks to Petronas and Nuffnang, I had an opportunity to involve in community work again.

Few bloggers were selected to join this program Sentuhan Kasih Deepavali Petronas 2012 @ Kampung Wellington, Perak. This program has started since 2005 with the objective of nurturing and enhancing the spirit of giving and volunteerism among Petronas' employees and affiliates. This year, Petronas' employees has reached out to the less privileged communities during Deepavali.
Mike Tan from Zenith was the coordinator of the program, briefing us how and what to do to help the villagers.
Abang xxx, who gave us some briefing before we started gotong-royong! Sounds so high-school, lol!
All set for work!
Basically we were helping to clean out the kampung, providing a rubbish-free environment for the villagers to stay in. :)

In Kampung Wellington, 90% of the villagers are living under minimum wage with household income less than RM700 that supports one family expense. Most of the families, some are single mothers with many schooling children. With unstable monthly income, they are hardly survived.

With Petronas intervention, i believe the villagers would live a better life at least in term of providing basic necessity like healthcare or school facilites.
Below are some activities during the programme.
Mohammad Medan (first pic, with shades) and Dr. Abdul Rahim (second pic) were trying their hands at deep frying vadai.
Speech was given.
Petronas also handed out cash donations to 142 families, which would definitely improve their quality of life.
They helped in refurbishing the community hall, giving the building a new face.

Towards the end of the program, we were resting and time for picha! :D
Ash ash.
Povy.
Trio.

Later i was dragged by Mike to do an interview! I thought it was us being interviewed together, but at last i was the only one who went! Oh-noooo, so nervous. :s
Spot me in the video at 4.11min in the video. My eyes were hardly opened because the sun was shining so bright (wonder how actors can wide-open their eyes under the sun).

Some behind-the-scene pichas!

That basically ends my day with Petronas. Hope i can participate in this kind of community projects in future. You guys should do as well. It's important if you can contribute back to society (if you've the ability) especially when you are living such....i should say happy life as compared to them.
It was a meaningful day for me, x

Living in this jam-packed city which you can no longer predict the jamming hours (if you stay closely to my tweets, almost every day i complain about the jam), and worse to come because the public transports are often overly-crowded, you seriously need to get yourself a car. A GOOD & AFFORDABLE ONE of course. A brand new year might be a good reason for you to own a car or either persuade your parents to buy you one :p Girls always need plenty of reasons to persuade themselves before buying valuable item. #girlsbeinggirls

So what's the car model you have in mind?
Proton Saga FLX might be a good choice.
It's a car that after all that won the people's Car award, and the 2012 Proton Saga is giving an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime offer for first-time car buyers (like me).

Aside from the cash rebate of RM2,000 or zero serving charges for a year, Proton is also offering zero road tax for 2 years and zero licence renewal fee for 5 years when you purchase a Saga FLX 1.3 or FLX SE 1.6.

Now, you might think I could get a secondhand car for cheaper, so why should I get the Saga FLX? Read on to find out.

WHY PROTON SAGA FLX?
Priced at RM38,361 (yes only RM38,361!), a brand new Saga FLX may work out to be chepaer than getting a secondhand car. Why? because when you get a secondhand car, you won't know the condition of the car and all you can see is the exterior of it. What if the car starts giving you problems after just using it for a while? Don't waste time end up leaving your car in the workshop for repairing more than driving on road! Spare parts that need changing, faulty parts will cost you a lot too so your secondhand car may not be that cheap at all.

When purchasing a car, you also have to look out for the hidden cost - such as how's the fuel consumption of the car, spare parts that you may need in future...annual road tax etc. If it's very expensive, probably it's not a wise idea to purchase it as your first car.

Getting a brand new Saga FLX on the other hand, you don't need to worry about the car giving you problems. It's not only within most of your budget constraint, it's also comes with class-leading cabin space, up-to-date technology and other driver-friendly features. The free license renewal fee, cash rebate and zero servicing charges all also helps you save!

Here're some illustrations of the interior of the car.

Some technical features about the car for your reference. Sometimes, you just don't understand the terms salesperson used. Alahh, please bear with bimbo like me who might ask stupid questions when buying a car (in future perhaps).

The Saga FLX has CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which means the car is better fuel economy, less wear and tear on engine, and eco-friendly emissions. Safety is another feature that many drivers first concern. Worry not, it comes with standard Anti-lock braking system (ABS) that helps keep the car stable under hard braking to prevent accident and injury. It also has 5.3 turning radius makes u-turns and parking easier for new driver. Other standard feature like EBD and airbags are available as well.

I myself is getting overwhelmed after knowing Proton Saga FLX comes with such affordable price yet maintaining high quality features. What are you waiting for, just go for a test drive and let's see if IT'S EVEN BETTER.

Making it yours :D
Saga FLX SE 1.6 only.

Start drawing out budget and make a smart decision now.

Happy Winter Solstice my readers. The 4th year i'm not celebrating with my family, little homesick here. But i'm lucky enough to have dinner with my huannie's family every year, making me feel the warmth of a family love

Another happy news to share in December. Yesterday, I went for an interview with Bernama radio as a blogger. Meet DJ Gerald Ratnam :)

Every Thursday they will have a blogger on live to share their experience as being a blogger. So stay tune every week on 93.9fm about 9.15pm.
ON AIR! So nervous...wondering how my voice sounds like from radio. According to Shawn, he said i sound like a man! lol, i think so too.

While doing interview with DJ Ratnam, i looked quite natural here though! We laughed very hard while sharing the food all over the world, from my hometown Sibu to HongKong. Talked about kampua, dianpianhu (鼎邊糊), roasted goose, dim sum...lol
If you guys missed out the interview, ummm...i can't do anything. T.T Did try to ask if i can retrieve it, but they said they would get back to me. So yea...if i manage to get the interview record, i'll post it here ok? Or just hoping i would have a second chance to be invited to Bernama so you guys can listen next time. *wink*

After the interview, i went to Tokyo - Heineken Red and Green celebration @ Skybar, Traders Hotel.

Drinking night with my gang and other bloggers. Great meeting new people when attending events. One of the best thing to be a blogger, teehee~
